I am currently translating John Buridan’s Long Questions on the “Peri Hermeneias”, as well as selections from his Questions on the Metaphysics of Aristotle (QM), under contract for Fordham University Press.

This passage includes a surprisingly direct answer to G.E Hughes’s (1989) question, what are Buridan’s possible horses? I examine this, in relation to possible worlds, in an article now forthcoming in Dialectica [link]

In some of my recent articles, I have been including full translations of the relevant Latin texts as appendices. (Many thanks to the editors who have allowed me to do this). One is now in press, and includes a translation of Buridan’s discussion of Aristotle’s Categories in relation to the Eucharist [link]. Another presents a contemporary criticism of Peter Abelard, from his rivals in the school of Alberic of Paris [link].

I am also working on texts by Francis Mayrone (ca.1280-1328), for a future project on Scotist conceptions of modality and time. I’ll post them as soon as they’re polished and good. For now, here’s an edition and translation of Mayrone’s “Sermo de Angelis” [link], based on a text I prepared back in my salad days. I’ve revised it since.
